| News flash ...Shelley can be seen in the new Benidorm Series 5 starting Friday 24th Feb ITV1 at 9pm. Shelley Longworth a comedienne and character actress best known for playing Sam wood in ITV's hit comedy Benidorm. She started out donning a gigantic fluffy cat costume as Poppy in the UK tour of Plays Days, moving swiftly on to play a vulnerable young prostitute in Band of Gold, then a hardnosed Screw in Bad Girls. More crazy costumes and mad antics followed as she devised character-based sketches for Ealing Live at Ealing Studios, a fantastic platform into the Comedy Scene. From here she went on to do three series of Tittybangbang, then was inspired to create her own material; co-wrote and performed It’s Adam and Shelley which was commissioned by the BBC. Channel Five’s Angelo’s came next with a brilliant opportunity to play one of Sharon Horgan’s eccentric characters, Maria. Then it was onto the Culshaw and Stephenson Show as a core cast member. Shelley's ear for accents and mimicry has also led to a successful voiceover career, credits include: The Fimbles, Freefonix, Louie, Big Barn Farm, The OOglies and Noddy to name but a few. She continues to write and play interesting characters, one of her favourites being Adeltrout the puppet cannibal in Chris Waitt’s Fur TV and is Hannah in Burke and Hare, directed by John Landis. |
